Episode 2: The cold depths! Calling to the Sea Maiden!

Oh to be free

To travel the world

To see the sights

To have your own path to walk

Or to walk that path alongside others

One girl wished she could go back to those days.

It was a seemingly pleasant day off the coast of Cerulean City. A rather fancy looking boat was sailing among the waves. This boat happened to belong to the family that ran the Cerulean City Gym. With their prolific careers outside of Pokemon training expanding due to their previous "position" being handed over to someone else, the sisters of the Cerulean City Gym, Daisy, Violet, and Lily had more than enough wealth to afford vehicles like this. As for the Gym Leader themselves, well, that person happens to be thinking of more than just success and fame. A red haired girl known as Misty stood near the edge of the ship, gazing into the waters while reflecting on herself much like the ocean itself did. While she felt proud of her accomplishments and rise to the position of an "official" Pokemon League Gym Leader, she still yearned for the days of old. Days when she walked everywhere she went. Days where she wasn't alone most of the time. Days when she could see them... and him.

"Sis? Are you ok?" A concerned female voice said causing the redhead to snap out of her little trance.

"Oh, Daisy. I'm just fine. Just thinking about what a beautiful day it is out here. Good to get out of the gym isn't it?" She perked up a little. Daisy sighed in relief, but knew deep down that Misty was doing more than just enjoying the day.

"Mist, I know you sometimes miss being out there with your friends. But think of all the things you've done? I mean, if it hadn't been for you, we may not have had the time to invest in things like this boat!" She said trying to cheer her up, Misty shot a glare at her blonde sister. For her, she was into Pokemon training not just to be a good challenge for up and coming trainers or for material possessions, but to make bonds among friends along the way. "Woah woah woah Misty, I didn't mean it that way. I'm sure your friends are thinking about you right now? Wherever they are." Daisy stated frantically trying to stem a possible confrontation. Misty just went back to looking at the sea.

"It's fine, I think about them quite a bit myself." she solemnly said. Her sister then pulled out a bag she had brought with her.

"Look Sis, if your going to be out here, you might as well do something productive. Like seeing if you can catch a new pokemon or two to train a the gym!" Daisy exclaimed. Misty then walked up to her and patted her on the shoulder.

"Thanks Daisy." the redhead replied as she took the fishing rod out of the bag and made a big cast out into the sea. Seeing that she helped her quite a bit, Daisy took her leave. As if like a rotating door, a smaller figure ran by her as she walked down the stairs. The figure made its way to Misty.

"Azu?" Misty winced in a tinge of surprise as she saw her Azurill sitting next to her. The blue polka dot pokemon had an expression of concern on its face. Misty took an arm off the fishing rod and petted her loyal companion.

"It's ok Azurill, I'm OK. Just, I miss those days, and looking out at the sea reminds me of what could be out there. But I have my duty to uphold." Misty stated as the water mouse cooed in an attempt to comfort its trainer. She then felt a tug on the line. "Oh hey, i got something." She stated as she stood up and pulled the fishing line back, what she didnt expect was her "catch" to fight back. Misty gasped as she felt whatever was on the other end resist so hard, that it flung her right off the boat and into the ocean depths.

"What kind of Pokemon could this be? Why is it this strong?" She thought frantically as she herself was no stranger to big catches like this, but never one like this. Was this even a Pokemon? She didn't have much more time to think as whatever it was dragged her further into the deep. Thinking that this catch couldn't possibly be worth her life, Misty let go of the fishing pole and tried to make a break for the surface. The mysterious "catch" wasnt done with her yet, as a massive whirlpool formed around the Cerulean Gym Leader. The torrent pulled her even further into the depths. Knowing that she couldn't hold out much longer, Misty grasped for one of her poke balls and threw it forward, the sphere releasing her faithful Starmie out. Seeing its master in danger, Starmie was quick to dash towards Misty and scoop her onto its back. Misty clutched onto Starmie tightly thinking she could salvage this situation. But things became dire as the current grew stronger, and sucked Misty and her pokemon back.

"This, is not good at all." Misty panicked in her head as she was yanked into the abyss. Then bubbles spewed from her mouth as she couldn't hold her breath any longer. Images of her Azurill and her other water Pokemon, her sisters, and her friends that she met along her travels, the Pokemon master in training Ash, the caring Brock, Pokemon watcher Tracey, Pokemon Coordinator May and her brother Max rushed through. Is this how she was going to go out? Lost in the abyss of the sea never to be seen or heard from again?

"AZU AZU!" Azuril cried out as it ran into the cabin of the ship where Misty's sisters were. They were shocked to say the least to see that its expression was more than just its usual somber looking self. The water mouse pokemon had a legitimate look of terror in it's eyes.

"Oh no... Misty!" Daisy wailed as she ran out into the ship deck, looking for any sign of her sister. Azuril directed Daisy to where Misty was pulled from, her fellow sisters Lily and Violet quick to follow.

"Lily, Violet, keep an eye on the boat, I'm going in. Dewgong lets go." she stated as she called forth the majestic seal pokemon from its ball. Daisy grasped onto Dewgong as they dove into the depths alongside Azurill. The blue and red haired sisters stood by and watched, hoping for the best out of this situation.

"Pleas sis, just, come back to us, both of you, please!" Lily pleaded as she prayed while tearing up, Violet consoled her as the oceans tides grew fiercer by the minute.

"Oh Maiden

"Oh Maiden of the Sea"

"Answer thy Call"

"And Awaken!"

Her eyes snapped open in response to this voice. Misty sat up as she regained her bearings. Looking around, she noticed that she was in what appeared to be a canyon made of Ice. Such a place seemed alien to her. And of course, she felt cold, but grateful to be alive, or so she thought. Misty got up, and surveyed her surroundings more. she saw ice, ice, and more ice.

"Maiden!"

Misty felt a presence, as if something was calling her forth.

"Come!"

Misty felt the voice boom in her head. Moving forward while slipping a bit on the ice, but not falling, The girl advanced as she saw more than just ice in the area. There appears to be people, and what appeared to be strange monsters of some kind, not unlike her own Pokemon frozen as ice sculptures alongside her. As she examined the myriad display of frozen creatures, she remembered about those she had, or their fate! She gasped quickly as she felt around her waist, but was unable to find any of her pokeballs. She then looked up once more, a white void reaching across the canyon she was in. Was this an afterlife of some kind, if so, did that mean...

"Where, who, why am I here?" Misty yelled as she fell to her knees upon this possible realization, her tears freezing a bit as they fell. This was too soon for her! She wanted to at least see her friends before something like this happened.

"Be strong Maiden! Come, and face your destiny!" The mysterious voice echoed through the canyon. Misty clutched her chest. She couldn't be weak, not at a time like this. Getting up once more. she continued her trek, until she reached a wall of ice with a pillar in front of it. Misty peered into the wall, and saw something in it. What was in it appeared to be a dragon of sorts. The ice dragon lay dormant within the walls, and despite that, still had an intimidating presence.  Misty knew that she would be getting an answer to what was going on soon. And she decided to start now.

"Alright I'm here, now, what do you want, and why am i here?" Misty demanded. She then felt the voice shake not only herself but the canyon walls.

"Pact, you must form the pact!" The voice beckoned once more, a voice that Misty felt coming from the sealed dragon. Mistys attention was drawn to a chest in front of her on the pillar.

"Take control of your destiny oh Maiden of the Sea." it beckoned once more. The redhead opened the chest, and saw a golden ring, a ring that had ocean blue gems on it, and sparkled like the seas themselves. Knowing what she had to do, Misty grabbed the ring, and put it on her finger. As she did so, the ice wall in front of her began to crack and fractured. It was awakening.

"The time has come for the Pact!" The voice echoed as Misty looked up to the massive dragon, that began stirring as its prison shattered. She backed off as much as she could to avoid getting crushed by the falling ice. As the mist cleared. She found herself looking into the now awakened dragon's eyes.

"Maiden of the Sea, you have been found worthy of wielding our power, This pact will now bond us!" Misty was taken aback at what the Dragon said a bit. But knowing that she had no other choice, she raised her arms to the dragons head, and caressed its head. As she did this, the ring on her finger glowed an Azure blue as did the Dragon in front of her. Misty then felt a new power welling up inside her as she felt a rumbling. The whole canyon was coming apart!.

"Do not fear Maiden, for we will protect each other, and fight for both our worlds and us!" Both worlds?!?! Misty wondered, was she ever in her own world anymore? She didnt have much time to think as she felt herself be whisked away once more as a surge of energy shot up around her.

"Misty, please, please don't die on us." Daisy thought frantically as she scoured the depths alongside Dewgong for a sign of her younger sister. She got an answer, but not the kind she expected as a surge of energy shot from the depths from which Misty was dragged into. Daisy then felt a twinge of relief in her mind.

"She.. She's alive... Don't you worry Misty. We'll find you! Daisy said as she, Dewgong, and Azurill swam forth into the breach. Wherever they were going, they knew that Misty would be there, some where, some way, some how.

"Maiden! Arise!" Misty stirred awake, as she found herself on the beach. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled as she thought her troubles might be over for the moment. But as she would soon find out, things were just getting interesting. She felt a weigh on her arm as she looked at it. Still there was the ring from earlier, and also on it was a disk like machine with what looked like a deck of cards in it. Awed at the sight, Misty noticed another card glowing around her belt where her pokemon would be. Misty drew the card from the her belt and stifled a yelp. It was the Dragon she had run into! Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Reading the cards name, and its accompanying text. Misty wondered, was this a  kind of game she was playing? She was going to get her answers sooner than she expected

"Another?"
"Yes yes! another one she has!"
"So it appears the humans are making contact with our subjects. I suggest we take action now!"
"Now now Gorronar, We can't announce our presence to the world just like that, we need to make an impact!"
" Master Zecht, he may actually be right. If we dont act soon. The odds might not be in our favor.
"Well Arstot, you have a good point. Very well, does a day or two sound soon enough for you?"
"Works for me!"
As the figures bickered, a White masked figure was off to the side. Observing the circumstances of the latest pact.

"So, you came after all."

It is interesting having to blend two different show elements into one. I liked it.
